1Malaysia 1Student 1Sports Simultaneous Aerobics Exercise
Once again, a new Malaysian record was created on 10th July 2012 when more than 3.6 million students from 10,000 schools throughout Malaysia carried out a simultaneous aerobics exercise. This event was launched by Deputy Prime Minister cum Education Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, under the Education Ministry's 1Malaysia 1Student 1Sport policy.
More than 1500 teachers and students of SMJK Phor Tay had participated in this event. Some PTA members also joined the event.
Before the aerobic session, students gathered at the hall to listen to the speech given by our Education Minister. The speech was read by the Senior Assistant in-charge of the curricular activities, Madam Tan Soh Moi. In his message, Tan Sri Muhyiddin said the 1Student 1Sport policy, which required every healthy student to participate in at least one sport, was in line with the aspiration to inculcate the sporting culture in schools. Besides, the policy also demonstrated the government's intention to make sports a major tool for unity because it had been clearly proven that sports can unite a multiracial community and make the 1Malaysia concept a reality.
The national-level 1Malaysia 1Student 1Sports Simultaneous Aerobics session started at 8.00 a.m. and lasted for 35 minutes. It was an enjoyable event for all the participants.
