On the 16th of January last Tuesday, 5 students from our school took part in the MSSD Ping Pong competition, held in DBI, Ipoh. In the boy single event, Chooi Keng Leong, from 3C1, emerged as champion of Zone A while Lee Siow Joe, from 1T secured third placing in the same event.

       On the 17th of January, top 5 players from Zone A and B respectively headed for a showdown in the same venue. Initially, Keng Leong played impressively in the round-robin to top the group. Unfortunately, he succumbed unexpectedly to a rear defeat by the eventual 1st runner-up from Poi Lam Secondary School in the semi-final. However, he kept his cool to attain a 3rd placing over his opponent in the 3rd and 4th placings play- off later.

       As for youngster, Lee Siow Joe, he performed undoubtedly in the field of strong contenders to finish 3rd in the group. Finally, he clinched the 5th placing in the 5th – 6th placings play-off. However, due recognisation should be given for our future stars, Lee Siow Joe from 1T, and Chooi Keng Leong from 3C1.

       In the boys double event, Chooi and Lee partnered up excellently to bag a silver medal for our school. Both of them qualify to represent Kinta Zone in the inter district MSSPK competition.
