Fund-raising Project to Build a Sports Complex

Since the relocation of SMJK Phor Tay to a new building in 2009, the enrolment of students has increased tremendously from its previous 1000 to almost 3000 at present. Although the school is big enough to accommodate such a large number of students, it is still lacking a proper venue for students to carry out co-curricular activities.

As the Education Ministry has made it compulsory for every student to participate in co-curricular activities, a suitable and conducive venue is urgently needed for the students to hold various co-curricular activities and physical exercises.  Hence, the Board of Directors has decided to make use of a plot of vacant land behind the school to build a sports complex and a field.  Construction is currently underway. However, the building fund is still short of RM 1.5 million. To make possible the completion of the sports complex, the Parent-Teacher Association will be holding a charity fair to raise the funds needed.

As such, we would like to invite parents and members of the public to support this fund-raising effort by participating in the event. Your involvement is much appreciated.

The details of the event are as follow:

We earnestly appeal for your support by becoming a donor for the upcoming charity fair.  We are pleased to inform you that:

1. a donor of RM 5,000.00 and above will be invited as a guest-of-honour in the gong-sounding ceremony;
2. a donor of RM 2,000.00 and above will be invited as a guest-of-honour in the drum-beating ceremony;
3. a donor of RM 500.00 and above will be invited as a guest-of-honour in the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

In addition, each donor will be presented with RM 50 coupons for use in the fair.  The ceremony will be held at 10.00am during the charity fair.
