SIBU: SMK Chung Hua emerged champion at the three-day inter school swimming championship at Bukit Lima pool here yesterday. The team captured both the boys and girls titles.
In the boys category SMK Sacred Heart came in second and third was SMK Rosli Dhoby.
Finishing second in the girls event was SMK Methodist and Catholic High School finished third.
In the primary schools boys category SJK Chung Sing emerged champion to lift Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Dr Wong Soon Kai Challenge Trophy.
SJK Tung Hua were in second place and SJK Su Lai, third.
In the girls event SJK Chung Sing came first and took home the Dato Sri Dr Yong Sau Kan Challenge Trophy. SJK Tung Hua were second and SJK Taman Rajang, third.
A total of 234 swimmers from 17 schools took part in the competition, which was jointly organised by Sibu Amateur Swimming Association and SMK Tiong Hin.
Sibu Municipal Council chairman Datuk Tiong Thai King officiated at the prize-giving ceremony.
Also present was Daniel Ngieng, the council’s deputy chairman.
