SMJK Krian officially launched the setting up of The Chinese Orchestra on 24th March, 2007 at 3.00 pm.

A brief ceremony was held at the school hall to mark the event. Present at the launch was Mr Beh Swee Chiak, Chairman of PIBG, Mr Lim Hock Chye, Chairman of the Old Pupil's Association, Mr Wong, representing the Chairman of the Board of Governors; and their respective committee members.

Also there to witness the event were some parents and reporters.

 The school principal, Pn Ng Kim Eai, senior assistants, Mr Gee Kuang Beng, Mr Chang Yow Chiew (HEM), Mr Lim Ewe San (KoKur) and Pn Teh Poh Gaik (P. Ptg) together with a few other teachers, including Pn Ang Hong Choo (teacher in charge of Chinese Orchestra) were also on hand at the launch.
