Tan-Loh Joash, Form 4S1, emerged as the champion of the Perak State-level Public Speaking Competition 2004 which was held at the Manjung Distric Education Office, Sitiawan on 22nd June 2004. He then went on to represent Perak at the national- level of this competition which was held at the Sheraton Hotel, Labuan, Sabah on 6-7 July 2004. His performance at the competition in Labuan was excellent and most commendable even though he missed the opportunity to represent Malaysia at the Asia-Pacific Plain English Speaking Award 2004 which is to be held in Melbourne, Australia in September.
