3. System Support & Maintenance
Ask for remote access to servers (they can
access your server from a distant location), and sub-contract
a reputable firm to provide this maintenance for you. Remote
maintenance means that the firm can ring up your server
and check on it without having to come and visit you each
week/two weeks/month! For remote schools, or those without
a technician in-house this is a "must have". When
the computer services firm ring they will check for conflicting
files, temporary files, dead shortcuts, hard drive set up,
minimise swap file size, check your registry and generally
provide a comprehensive maintenance service, without having
to visit you on a regular basis.
Once a year back up all your files and
then completely delete all your programs and saved files
on your hard drives in all classroom machines. Re-install
your Operating System (O/S), programs and files and enjoy
the improved speed and performance of your computers!
