Ken Hwa Middle School was officially established on 8th January 1968. A statues of government aided school and a piece of nearly 12 acres land for its permanent site had been approved by the authority. The basic aim of its establishment is to provide and promote education as a whole. Special consideration has been assessed to meet the local demand for secondary education with greater efficiency and convenience for primary 6 levels for Chinese Schools. It has been the school's firm belief to teach 3 languages, i.e. ( Bahasa Malaysia, Chinese and English ), with emphasis on the improvement of the standard of Bahasa Malaysia. The school shall see the practice no racial distinction in the admission of students to stop. It will be the sold function of the school to educate useful and responsible future citizens of Malaysia. Ever since its formation, this school has enjoy encouraging assistants and advice from both the Education Department and the public. This enables us to carry out our development plans satisfactorily. In the beginning (Jan, 1968), only 2 classes of junior 1 were enrolled with a staff of 3 teachers. After confirming its 1st result J. C. E. (Chinese of last year as one of the best in Sabah, this school has now an enrolment of 135 students and a staff of 6 teachers. as another step forward, Senior remove classes were conducted in the temporary building in Yuk Yin school compound, Keningau. Within considerable short period, the School Building Committee has been able to complete the construction of the present permanent buildings trough generous donations and co-operation it received. More than RM246,000 has been spent on the construction. Among this RM108,395 was the aid from the Government and the rest was donated by the public. To all the assistants and advice we are so fortunate to receive, we went to register our most grateful thanks. Ken Hwa Middle School will always, as it is, keep in mind the education requirements of our youth and nation. It has been entrusted to secure and efficient, modern and progressive education alongside its beautiful new buildings. All members of this school recognize this fact and are working towards it. Ken Hwa Secondary School today is one of the most popular school in Keningau, and it is now turning into a smart school that has all kinds of facilities.
